Alot of people are nervous do to the decline in record sales, claiming hip hop is dead. I however, think this is a good thing (for those of us that don't listen to nonsense music) Contrary to what Ice Cube would have you beleive, money, not gangstas, makes the world go round. Need proof? Look back at the Don Imus (first and last time I mention his name) situation. He lost his job because his sponsors pulled out, not because Al "I'm gonna attack the Boondocks, but leave cooning ass BET alone" Sharpton complained. Originally he got a 2 week suspension. His sponsors got nervouse because people threatened to stop backing them, so they took action. Now, let's flip this. Regardless of what lil young what's his name would like you beleive, his career is funded by record labels, not drug money. These labels put up money for marketing, videos, pressing cds, studio time, producers, etc. etc. for him to babble bullshit because the masses love it. Ever since Ice Cube left NWA, hip hop has been over run with shock rappers who continue to push the limit on violence, materialism, and other forms of bullshit because millions of people in West Bubblefuck (Microcosmic) haven't lost friends to drive-bys, but love to hear about them. Oh yea, and because they like to "get their shine on" too. Add in the 12 year old kids who think selling drugs and keeping it gangsta is "So Real" and you have millions of records sold and big bucks for the 5 major labels. I don't mean Aftermath, Def Jam, Koch, Atlantic, and Cash Money either. See, behind the scenes there are 5 major labels that contain all others (except indies). The record labels you know of are only small peices to the puzzle. Some of the labels you think are competing are actually under the same umbrella. Nowadays though, the masses are getting tired of rap. Just like they ran away from Rock N Roll in the 80's, they're now fleeing hip hop. Let's be real, Ja Rule told Eminem his daughter would be a hoe, Rick Ross is owed a hundred favors by the real Noriega, Tony Yayo smacks little kids in real life, and Game is super blood. How much more can the limits be pushed? So now the labels are starting to put less money up to support generic trap/hustla/gangbang rapper who spits piff #24567, because they're not getting their money back like they used to. Record sales are declining fast. They'd like you to beleive it's because of bootlegging, but I sold a bunch of copies of "Chronic 2001" and Dre still put up numbers. The masses are sick of this shit. They need something new. So what does this mean. Without the label money backing them, YOUR favorite artist, are gonna be brought down to the same level as MY favorite artist. Speaking off my favorite artist, let's get some of them in here. Picture please....... |
